Welcome to Wildbirds, a community platform for bird enthusiasts ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using Wildbirds, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Eligibility and Age

To use Wildbirds, you must be at least 13 years old and meet the minimum age required by the laws of your country. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Account Registration

You are responsible for your account and all activity that occurs under it. Keep your login credentials secure. Do not share your account with others. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you post. By sharing content on Wildbirds, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content in connection with operating the platform. You are solely responsible for your content. We are not obligated to monitor content but may remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

We will never sell your content. If you delete your account, we will make reasonable efforts to remove your content from the platform.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, or defamatory
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Post spam, unsolicited advertisements, or promotional material
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform
• Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights of others
• Post content involving child exploitation or abuse

5. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if you violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or if we are required to do so by law.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Wildbirds is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wildbirds is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or from content posted by other users.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.

9. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the platform or email. Continued use of Wildbirds after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Third-party data

Wildbirds may use third-party taxonomic or reference data to power features such as species names. Where we use such data, we comply with the applicable license (for example, Creative Commons Attribution requires appropriate credit and a link to the license). Species taxonomy from the IOC World Bird List (International Ornithologists Union), accessed via GBIF (dataset), licensed under CC BY 4.0. Use of species data does not imply endorsement by the International Ornithologists Union, GBIF, or their contributors.
