Found one of my beloved night herons out hunting, a red winged blackbird in a patch of cattails, and then I couldn’t resist a few of my yardbirds that were posing around one of our feeders.

I always grew up calling them catbirds, only to learn that’s actually a different bird entirely. That said, these mockingbirds will absolutely torment cats for sport, haha! We have... I always grew up calling them catbirds, only to learn that’s actually a different bird entirely. That said, these mockingbirds will absolutely torment cats for sport, haha! We have a nest just over the property line in a rhododendron I am going monitor for signs of chicks, soon. They’re guarding the nest pretty vigilantly so I’m sure there’s a clutch. Just don’t want to stress the birds, though.
